When it gets cold outside, we love to cozy up to comforting recipes. This Skillet Lasagna recipe is a win all around. We use Italian sausage instead of ground beef to add rich flavor, then we layer in our favorite marinara sauce and a dreamy blend of cheeses: ricotta, parm, and mozzarella. The cheese pull? Absolutely epic.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Heat skillet over medium heat with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add onion and sauté until softened, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Brown sausage in the skillet and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove mixture from pan and set aside.
- Add marinara and ½ cup broth, stirring to combine, then simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add spinach and stir to wilt. Remove the sauce from the skillet and combine with the sausage.
- While sauce is simmering, mix ricotta, egg, parmesan, basil, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Get ready to layer the lasagna. Start by spreading a layer of sauce on the bottom of the skillet, then add a layer of broken lasagna noodles.
- Add spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture over the noodles and spread evenly, then add a layer of mozzarella and a layer of sausage sauce.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients and finish with sauce and extra mozzarella cheese.
- Set the skillet in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The cheese should be bubbly and golden brown. Allow to cool 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with remaining basil.
